Daria Sushkova | Mezzosopran
The Russian mezzo-soprano Daria Sushkova was born in Tambow in 1996. From 2013 to 2017, she studied at the Ippolitov-Ivanov Music University in Moscow, and from 2017 to 2021, she attended the GITIS Theater Institute (Faculty of Music Theater). Since the 2021/2022 season, she has been a member of the Opera Studio at the Vienna State Opera. Daria Sushkova was a scholarship holder of the Vladimir Spivakov Charity Foundation and a prize winner in national and international competitions; her performances have taken her to France and Belgium, among other places. Daria Sushkova was nominated for the Onegin Opera Prize. Among her roles are Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Romeo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Josephine in Linda Kathleen Smith's Facing South, the Spring Fairy in Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Schneeflöckchen, Dunyasha in Rimsky-Korsakov's Zarenbraut, Olga in Eugen Onegin, Mercédès, and Carmen in Carmen.
At the Vienna State Opera, she has been heard as Giovanna in Rigoletto and as the Shepherdess in Jenůfa, among other roles. In the New Year's Eve Fledermaus 2022 at the Vienna State Opera, she made her role debut as Prince Orlofsky.
