Environment & Sustainability
At the Vienna State Opera, sustainability is not just a word, but a core value to which we are fully committed. As one of the leading cultural institutions, we understand the responsibility we bear towards our environment.
We are aware that companies of our size consume many resources - be it energy, materials for scenery production or others - and actively strive to reduce this consumption. Transparency plays a key role in this, as we not only want to lead the way, but also inspire others by disclosing our processes and promoting sustainable practices. With this in mind, we are striving to achieve the Austrian Ecolabel for Music Theater in order to live up to our role model function in culture.
Some measures have already been implemented, while others are still in progress. These include the installation of a photovoltaic system on our roof, which represents an important step towards renewable energy and thus a reduction in energy consumption.
The Vienna State Opera is easily accessible by public transport and also by bicycle. We encourage our guests to use these environmentally friendly transportation options and are actively committed to reducing the need to travel by car.
