Bogdan Roščić
Bogdan Roščić was born in Belgrade. His family emigrated to Austria in 1974. He read philosophy and musicology at the University of Vienna. Roščić started his professional career in Austrian media, first as newspaper journalist and later with the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF), where he was con- troller of its Ö3 programme. He then went into the recorded music industry. After initially running Univer- sal Music Austria he became the head of Artists & Repertoire at Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft in Hamburg and then Managing Director of Decca Records in London. For the last ten years, Roščić has served as President of Sony Masterworks, overseeing the worldwide Classical activities of Sony Music. In these positions, he was responsible for the labels’ rich back catalogues, but above all for new signings as well as the recording projects of many leading artists, among them Claudio Abbado, Cecilia Bartoli, Pierre Boulez, Riccardo Chailly, Teodor Currentzis, Gustavo Dudamel, Juan Diego Flórez, Elīna Garanča, Christian Gerhaher, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Jonas Kaufmann, Igor Levit, Yo-Yo Ma, Anna Netrebko, Erwin Schrott, Bryn Terfel, Christian Thielemann and Sonya Yoncheva.
