Jozef Bezak
The Slovak Jozef Bezak was educated at the Conservatory Kaschau in organ and in music theory at the University of Music in Bratislava. His studies at the Johns Hopkins University Baltimore (USA) in computer music / composition with Dr. McGregor Boyle he finished with a master degree. From 1997 to 2004 he was engaged as a ballet pianist at the National Theatre Bratislava. The further career path led him to Zurich where he worked for one season as a ballet pianist in the Opera House. Since 2006 he holds the same position at the Wiener Staatsballett in the Volksoper Vienna. His great passion for Jazz of the 1920s and 30s he cultivated amongst others in 1997/98 as a pianist of the Bratislava Hot Serenaders. Furthermore, he composed the music for the ballet »Aschenputtel« of the Ballet School Bratislava in the choreography of Klara Skodova. He dedicates himself to several music genres and is experimenting in his sound studio with folk music instruments such as the Fujara as well as new digital technologies. Currently, Jozef Bezak is working also in duo with the saxophonist Georg Yvon for which he is composing own works.
