Jiří Novák
Jiří Novák received his education at the Conservatory in Teplice. After his graduation, he was engaged at the National Theatre Prague as a ballet pianist. Since 1992, he has been working in the same position with the Vienna State Opera Ballet respectively from 2010 the Vienna State Ballet. Besides piano playing, his great passion is choral singing and conducting. As a guest conductor he worked with several ensembles, from 2004 to 2012 he was artistic director of the Vienna Evangelical Choir. Since 2013 he has been director of Vienna’s Schola Cantorum. As a singer he performed annually with the Schola in the Musikverein Vienna works such as Verdiʼs »Requiem«, Haydnʼs »Die Schöpfung« or Mendelssohn Bartholdyʼs »Elias«. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of this ensemble he conducted Antonín Dvořákʼs »Stabat Mater« in the Konzerthaus Vienna.
For the Vienna State Ballet Jiří Novák conducted the productions of »Blaubarts Geheimnis« and »Mozart à 2 | Don Juan« at the Volksoper Vienna.
Furthermore, he has been regularly collaborating at the recording of the ballet interludes of the New Year’s Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic. In 2008 he was directing a workshop for Ballet Correpetition in Tokyo.
