Couture Salon

Following its great success in 2024, the Vienna State Opera is once again looking for Austria's most talented fashion designers (m/f/d).

In addition to the overall visual impression and design, the focus should primarily be on freedom of movement in the gown, refinement of cut and practicality when waltzing as the perfect complement to the celebrations of Johann Strauss' 200th birthday.

Participants from all federal states are cordially invited to apply to present their creations to a large audience at the Vienna Opera Ball and the Opernball Couture Salon on January 31, 2025.

The finalists will have the opportunity to present their designs at the Vienna Opera Ball 2025 and the Opera Ball Couture Salon 2025 in cooperation with the dancers of the Vienna State Opera Ballet.

In addition to extensive online and offline media coverage, the Vienna State Opera, under the direction of Bogdan Roščić, will provide two complimentary tickets for each of the final designers. This includes a red carpet presence with the dancers of the Vienna State Opera Ballet on the evening of the ball. The finalists will be announced by a prominent jury in November 2024. The finalists and their work will also be featured extensively in the Vienna Opera Ball program.

As part of the Austria-wide talent promotion program, the call is aimed at designers who live and/or work in Austria, were born in Austria or have another direct connection to Austria.

The aim is to provide 5 gown looks (from head to toe) as well as the time for fittings (in the period from November 2024 to February 2025) and voting (online/offline).
Participants are free to show archive looks or create new designs specifically for this event. The gowns remain the property of the respective designers and are on loan free of charge for the Opernball Couture Salon 2025 and the Vienna Opera Ball 2025.

Registration deadline is November 11, 2024.
The Vienna State Opera welcomes all applications regardless of age, gender, sexual identity, ethnic origin and physical or mental impairment.
