The opera studio in Baden
Saison 2024/2025 |
With the Opera Studio, the Vienna State Opera has created a program for young talent of the highest quality, which has already produced some of the stars of tomorrow in its first two years.
Some members of the third year of the Opera Studio can now be experienced in this concert: The young singers, selected from around 750 applications, will present you with a colorful bouquet of melodies from the entire opera literature.
The Opera Studio of the Vienna State Opera
Founded in 2020 at the beginning of Bogdan Roščić and Philippe Jordan's tenure, the training programme established itself as an internationally recognized opera studio and an indispensable part of the Vienna State Opera in its very first year of existence. The members of the third Opera Studio class, consisting of fourteen young singers and three pianists, are currently completing their training at the Opera Studio.
The young talent program is aimed at young artists who have completed their vocal training and whose talent and ability promise a career at an international level. During training in the opera studio, the knowledge acquired during their studies is deepened. Studio members have the opportunity to work with established artists and benefit from their wealth of experience. The young singers receive a musical and scenic training program tailored to their personal needs and also perform on the stage of the Vienna State Opera in small and medium-sized roles. Master classes, rehearsal visits, movement training and workshops, participation in their own studio concerts in Vienna and the provinces as well as in events organized by the Official Circle of Friends of the Vienna State Opera round off the training.
After completing the program, the young artists should have the necessary prerequisites and skills to become part of a successful new generation of international opera artists.
The artistic director of the Opera Studio is baritone Michael Kraus, while the organizational management is in the hands of cultural manager and pianist Uta Sander.
