Declaration of accessibility

In accordance with Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2018/1523 of October 11, 2018 establishing a model accessibility statement pursuant to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies.

DECLARATION ON ACCESSIBILITY

The Vienna State Opera strives to make its website accessible in accordance with the Web Accessibility Act (WZG) as amended to implement Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of October 26, 2016 on the accessibility of the websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies (OJ L 327, 2.12.2016, p. 1).

This accessibility statement applies to the website www.wiener-staatsoper.at

STATE OF COMPLIANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS

This website is partially compliant with conformance level AA of the "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Web - WCAG 2.1" or with the applicable European Standard EN 301 549 V2.1.2 (2018-08) due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions.

NON-ACCESSIBLE CONTENT

The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons

INCOMPATIBILITY WITH ACCESSIBILITY REGULATIONS

The alternative text is missing for some images, background images and icons, so this information is not accessible for screen reader users. This means that WCAG success criterion 1.1.1 (text alternatives for non-text content) is not met. We are endeavoring to successively provide our images with alternative texts.

Some of our videos lack subtitles and complete transcripts, meaning that the spoken content is not available for deaf users. This means that WCAG success criterion 1.2.1 and 1.2.3 (transcripts) and 1.2.2 (recorded subtitles) are not met.

Our cookie consent and our slider do not currently have a corresponding ARIA landmark (WCAG success criterion 1.3.1); this will be corrected soon.

The structure of our HTML documents is occasionally incorrect (WCAG success criterion 1.3.1), as certain headings are omitted (e.g. missing H2 between H1 and H3) and there is inadmissible nesting. We are working on fixing the problem.

The structure of our forms is incorrect in individual cases (2 missing labels, 1 incorrect type, 1 missing autocomplete - WCAG success criteria 1.3.5, 2.5.3, 3.3.2). We are working on fixing the problem.

Links in the cast of a production do not differ in color from the body text. This contradicts WCAG success criterion 1.4.1 (independence of color information). We are working on fixing the problem.

There are control elements (e.g. the calendar selection and dropdowns in the game plan) that cannot be controlled using the keyboard. This contradicts the WCAG success criterion 2.1.1 (keyboard operability). The tab sequence (jumping to the control element with the TAB key) could also be improved in some cases (WCAG success criterion 2.4.3) We are looking into the possibilities and are working on fixing the problem.

The slider in the page header is time-controlled (image change) and cannot be stopped using the mouse or keyboard. This contradicts 2.2.2 WCAG success criterion "Pause, end, hide". The options for correcting this are being evaluated.

Currently, the repetitive elements of the website, such as navigation, cannot be skipped with skip links (WCAG success criterion 2.4.1). We will fix this soon.

Individual links do not have a descriptive title tag: sponsor logo, arrows in the monthly plan, buying tickets, opening a YouTube video (WCAG success criterion 2.4.4 Link purpose in context). A correction is in progress.

The field description in the form of a label or equivalent attributes is missing from the salutation when registering for the circle of friends. (WCAG success criterion 3.3.2 Labels or instructions). The corrections are successively imported here.

Some texts in the slider have too little contrast in the mobile navigation. (WCAG success criterion 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum)). A solution using a high-contrast stylesheet is being evaluated.

The prescribed line spacing is also undercut in the Friends membership form (WCAG success criterion 1.4.12 Text spacing). A correction is being checked.

The currently focused element of the page (links, buttons, form fields) is not recognizable because the focus frame is only minimally visible. (WCAG success criterion 2.4.7 Focus visible). Corrections will be implemented successively.

Iframes (e.g. YouTube or buy tickets) on the page lack the necessary title attribute. (WCAG success criterion 4.1.2 Name, role, value). The correction is in progress.

Two tables currently do not have sufficient markings (fixture calendar and contact) - (WCAG success criterion 1.3.1 Info and relationships). A correction will be made in the foreseeable future.
