Valentina Naforniţa
The soprano VALENTINA NAFORNITA was born in Glodeni (Moldova) and studied at the Stefan Neaga Music College in Chisinau and at the University of Music in Bucharest. She is the winner of several international competitions, among others the Young Opera Singers of Europe, the Romanian Orange Prize for young musicians and the Hariclea Darclée competition. In 2011 the young singer won the renound BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition – not only the main prize but also the Dame Joan Sutherland Audience Prize and was a finalist for the Lied-Prize. Engagements have led her among others to the Milan Scala, the Salzburg Festival, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, to Amsterdam, Edinburgh, the Staatsoper Berlin, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and to China. In 2011, she became a member of the Ensemble of the Wiener Staatsoper and has been heard among others as Susanna, Servilia, Gilda, Oscar, Lisa, Clorinda, Musetta, junger Hirt, Pamina, Adina, Norina, Najade, Marzelline, Stimme vom Himmel, Musetta and Elfe (Rusalka).
