Born in Magdeburg in Germany, Mezzosoprano ULRIKE HELZEL revieved her vocal training at the Leipzig Musikhochschule. She was an ensemble member of the Deutschen Opera in Berlin for a number of years. There, she sang Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Fuchs in Das schlaue Füchslein, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, Siébel in Faust, Orpheus in Orpheus und Euridice and Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier. In 2006-2012, the artists was a guest at the Bayreuther Festspielen, first as Wellgunde in the Ring and from 2008 in Parsifal as a flowergirl and Knappe. Since autumn 2012, she is an ensemble member of the Wiener Staatsoper. Ulrike Helzel has made guest appearances among others at the Theater Basel, the Komischen Oper, the Semperoper, the Nationaltheater Weimar, the Opernhaus Halle, the Opéra de Lyon, the Opéra La Monnaie Brüssel, the Bayerischen Staats­oper Munich, the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam, at the Festival de Canarias and the Dresdner Musikfestspielen. In 2013, she gave her debut in Rome as Fricka. She gave her debut at the Wiener Staatsoper in 2011 and sang Wellgunde, Jenny (Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny), Annina (Rosenkavalier) and Siegrune, 2. Norn, Page (Salome), Kartenaufschlägerin, 2. Dame (Zauberflöte), Elfe (Rusalka). ​
