KS Thomas Hampson
As one of today’s most in-demand singers of operas, concerts and lieder, THOMAS HAMPSON regularly performs on leading stages worldwide, and he has worked with some of the most highly respected singers, pianists, conductors and orchestras of our times. His nearly 200 recordings reflect his extraordinary stylistic range and have won major awards, while his thoroughly researched and unusually put together programmes have won him many an admirer, as have his active teaching career and his explorations of a virtually boundless repertoire of lieder. He has sung all the major parts of Italian, German, Russian and French origin. In 1987, he debuted at Vienna State Opera as Guglielmo (Cosí fan tutte) and later on performed as Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Posa (Don Carlo), Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Mandryka (Arabella), Roland (Fierrabras), Eugene Onegin, Antonio (Linda di Chamounix), the title character in the world premiere of Der Riese vom Steinfeld, in Simon Boccanegra, Don Giovanni and Guillaume Tell, as Amfortas.
