Tamuna Gochashvili
Young soprano Tamuna Gochashvili opens the 2020/2021 season with her debut at the Wiener Staatsoper. Gochashvili makes her debut at the Sydney’s Opera Australia in the role of Mimì in »La Bohème«. Other upcoming role debuts include Contessa in »Le Nozze di Figaro«, Desdemona in Verdi’s »Otello«, Erste Dame in »Die Zauberflöte«, Tebaldo in »Don Carlo«, and various roles in the Viennese operetta repertoire. Gochashvili’s 2019/2020 season was marked by critically acclaimed debuts at the Finnish National Opera with the role of Donna Elvira in »Don Giovanni« and at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt in the role of Tatyana in »Eugene Onegin«. Tamuna Gochashvili is a graduate of the Bolshoi Theatre Moscow Young Artists Opera Program under the tutelage of Dmitry Vdovin. Gochashvili performed the title role of Gerda in Banevich’s »The Story of Kai and Gerda«, and participated in numerous concerts on the Bolshoi stage, in the grand hall of the Moscow Conservatory, and took part in chamber music concerts with Liubov Orfenova, Semyon Skigin and Giulio Zappa. Gochashvili participated in master classes with Alessandro Amoretti, Elizabeth Vidal, Makvala Kasrashvili, Paul Curran, and Neil Shicoff. Her international career began in the Grand Hall of the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, where she performed various roles, including Contessa in »Le nozze di Figaro«, Tatyana in »Eugene Onegin« and Mimì in »La Bohème«.
