Speranza Scappucci

SPERANZA SCAPUCCI was born in Italy and was nominated artist of the month in 2014 by Musica America and was referred to as `rising star among the young conductors´ by Opera News in summer 2015. She recently made her debut at the Washington Opera and at the Teatro Regio Torino with La Cenerentola. She debuted at the Mariinsky Theatre St. Petersburg with Attila and in New York with La Sonnambula. She also conducted La Fille du regiment at the Opera Santa Fé, concertante perfrmances of La Sonambula at the Lincoln Centre in a coproduction of the MET Lindemann / Juiliard School, Norma in Lisbon, Don Giovanni at the Finnish National Opera, La Traviata at the Macerate Opera Festival.
Current engagements include La Bohème at the Los Angeles Opera, a new production of Il turco in Italia at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, new productions of Così fan tutte at the Opera Rome and Jérusalem at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège. She will conduct La Fille du régiment at the Opera House Zurich and Attila at the Teatre Liceu. Before she began her conductor career, she was répétiteur, for example at the Wiener Staatsoper.
