KS Plácido Domingo
KS Plácido Domingo is one of the most important artists of the 20th/21st centuries, and has set standards for interpretation internationally for decades. His vocal repertoire, which he recently expanded to include roles such as Simon Boccanegra and Macbeth, covers almost 150 roles – a number no other tenor has ever matched. Plácido Domingo has conducted over 500 opera performances and concerts worldwide. He has also made a name as an opera director (Los Angeles Opera, Washington National Opera). Following his début in 1967 at the Wiener Staatsoper (where he is an honorary member), he has appeared here in over 250 performances, 40 of which he conducted. Roles here included Radames (»Aida«), Don José (»Carmen«), Don Carlo, Gustaf III (»Un ballo in maschera«), Stiffelio, Otello, Canio (Pagliacci«), the Duke (»Rigoletto«), Cavaradossi (»Tosca«), Manrico (»Il trovatore«), Siegmund (»Die Walküre«), Idomeneo, Lohengrin, Rodolfo (»La Bohème«), Dick Johnson (»La fanciulla del West«), Hoffmann, Turiddu (»Cavalleria rusticana«), Faust, Loris (»Fedora«), Samson, Enzo Grimaldo (»La Gioconda«), Parsifal, Hermann (»Pique Dame«), Nabucco, Simon Boccanegra, Giorgio Germont (»La traviata«). He has also conducted performances here of »Aida«, »Carmen«, »Die Fledermaus«, »Macbeth«, »I puritani«, »Tosca«, »La traviata«, »Il trovatore«, »Nabucco«, and »Madama Butterfly«.
