Pavol Breslik

Tenor Pavol Breslik's career began in 2005 when he was named »Young Singer of the Year« in the critics' poll conducted by Opernwelt magazine. From 2003 to 2006 Pavol Breslik was a member of the ensemble of the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden. Since 2006 he has been a regular guest at the great European opera houses. At the Vienna State Opera he sang Lenski, Nemorino and Alfredo, at the Bavarian State Opera he made two important role debuts: Gennaro (Lucrezia Borgia) alongside Edita Gruberova and Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) with Diana Damrau. At Covent Garden he was heard as Lenski in Onegin as well as Ferrando, Don Ottavio and Tamino. He has also made guest appearances at the Paris Opera, Liceu Barcelona, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, Berlin State Opera, Salzburg Festival and Geneva Grand Théâtre. From 2012 to 2018 he was an ensemble member of the Zurich Opera House, where he sang Stewa, Don Ottavio, Nadir, Peter Quint and Leicester, among others. In 2021 he was awarded the honorary title of »Bayerischer Kammersänger«. After successful role debuts as Hans (The Bartered Bride) at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, as Edwin (The Csárdás Princess) at the Zurich Opera House, he recently debuted the role of the Prince (Rusalka) at the National Theatre in Prague with great success. Projects in the current season include: Don Giovanni (Don Ottavio) at the Vienna State Opera, Lucrezia Borgia (Gennaro), Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Belmonte) and Die Verkaufte Braut (Hans) at the Bavarian State Opera, and Arabella (Matteo) at the Semperoper Dresden.
