MARIA BARAKOVA was born in Kemerovo (Russia) in 1998. In 2017 she graduated from Novosibirsk Musical College with Svetlana Balashova and earned a bachelor's degree in vocal performance. In the same year, she became a member of the Young Artist Program of the Bolshoi Theater. She also participated in chamber concerts in the Beethoven Hall of the Bolshoi Theater, singing Russian, Italian and German art songs. She made her debut at the Bolshoi Theater in the supporting role of Petrovna (The Tsar's Bride). In 2018 she participated in the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, where she sang Melibea in Teatro Rossini, and in 2019 she returns to Pesaro to participate in Stabat Mater. Current engagements of the now multiple prize winner include Sonjetka (Lady Macbeth of Mzensk) at the Vienna State Opera, Nabucco at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Norma in Palermo, L'italiana in Algeri at the Opera House in Rome, Die Walküre in Rotterdam.
