Winner of several music competitions, her success came when she performed I Vespri Siciliani at Teatro Regio in Turin, with great reviews from public and critics. Since then, she has been invited to sing on the most important stages worldwide, such as Teatro alla Scala, Met Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, Royal Opera House, Opernahus Zurich, Opéra Bastille, Teatro Real de Madrid.
She performed La Traviata, Otello, Il Trovatore, La Bohème, Simon Boccanegra, Norma, Turandot, Adriana Lecouvreur, Anna Bolena, to name a few.
In the last seasons, she made her debut in Don Carlo at Teatro Real de Madrid, which she sang also in Venice at Teatro La Fenice.
Other debuts include Tosca at Opéra de Paris and Teatro Real de Madrid, Adriana Lecouvreur at Teatro alla Scala and Teatro Real de Madrid, Madama Butterfly at Abao Olbe, performed also at Royal Opera House, Medée at Teatro Real de Madrid and Boito's Mefistofele at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.
Maria has won the important prize “Franco Abbiati” in 2014: Italian national critics gave her the prize for Best Soprano.
Besides, she won the prestigious international prize "Luigi Illica", and in December 2019 she has been nominated Cavaliere dell'ordine al merito della Repubblica Italiana.
