The swiss born baritone MANUEL WALSER studied singing under Thomas Quasthoff since October 2008 at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin. Aside from Thomas Quasthoff, his most important mentors and teachers include Brigitte Fassbaender, Frédéric Gindraux and Wolfram Rieger. At the International Song Competition Das Leid in Berlin in 2013, he was awarded the first prize and the Public’s prize. Furthermore, he is a prize winner of the Stella Maris International Song Competition. At the Wiener Staatsoper, he gave his debut in 2013 as Fiorello and since the 2015/2016 season, is a member of the ensemble, where he has sung among others Harlekin (Ariadne auf Naxos), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Schaunard (La Bohème), Publio (La clemenza di Tito), Christian (Un ballo in maschera), Marullo (Rigoletto), Antonio (Le nozze di Figaro), Jäger (Rusalka) and Dominik (Arabella). Aside from opera and concert, Manuel Walser is dedicated to Lied singing. He has sung among others at the Berlin Philharmonie, the Salzburg Festival, at the Schubertiade Hohenems, the Lucerne Festival and in the Paris Philharmonie. In 2016/2017 he will perform as a Lied singer for the first time in Wigmore Hall.
