Tenor LUKHANYO MOYAKE is a member of Cape Town Opera Company. Ever since finishing his studies in 2011, he has been performing at this opera company, stepping into a multitude of roles in numerous productions, including Alfredo, Jaquino, Steuermann, Belmonte, Rinuccio, Tom Rakewell in The Rake’s Progress, Duke in Rigoletto and Narraboth. He toured Spain with the Cape Town Opera production of Porgy and Bess and, in 2014/2015, sang the role of Sportin’ Life at Teatro Real de Madrid, as well as at Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona and Teatro Colón. He sang Alfredo at the English National Opera and in Lisbon, as well as Don José in Braunschweig. In summer 2015, he made it to the finals of the International Hans Gábor Belvedere Singing Competition in Amsterdam; moreover, he is a prize-winner of the renowned Neue Stimmen competition. Alongside his career in opera, he regularly appears in concerts, performing lieder and oratorios. This season, he is joining Vienna State Opera as an ensemble member.
