LINDA WATSON is one of the greatest dramatic sopranos of our time. Whether performing Wagner’s Brünnhilde, Isolde or the greatest Strauss roles such as Marschallin, Der Färberin, Ariadne and, of course, Elektra, Linda Watson never fails to interpret the most famous characters of her fach anew. At the New York Met, as Kundry in Los Angeles, as Ortrud at La Scala, Milan, from Paris to Tokyo and Bayreuth to Buenos Aires, Linda Watson is in high demand all over the world. No other singer has as many official performances of Der Ring in the diary. Her debut performance of Elektra in Baden-Baden pushed the limits of interpretation of the title role with her highly internalised interpretation. From 1992-2005 Linda Watson was a Member of the Ensemble in Leipzig and later at the Deutschen Oper am Rhein which has theatres in both Düsseldorf and Duisburg. This period saw her change from Mezzo to Soprano. She gave her debut performance at the Vienna State Opera in 1986 in Bernstein’s A quiet place. She has since sung, amongst others, all three Brünnhilde, Isolde, Venus, Elektra and Marschallin. She is a German Kammersängerin.
