Kyle Ketelsen

American bass-baritone Kyle Ketelsen is in regular demand by the world’s leading opera companies and orchestras for his vibrant, handsome stage presence and distinctive vocalism. He has won First Prize in several international vocal competitions, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the Richard Tucker Music Foundation (Career Grant) and the George London Foundation. He is an alumnus of the University of Iowa and Indiana University. Highlights of Mr. Ketelsen’s recent seasons include his return to the Metropolitan Opera to sing Escamillo, Golaud, Leporello and Mr. Flint in Billy Budd, to Opernhaus Zürich for his role debut as Golaud in Pelléas et Mélisande as well as the role of Méphistophélès in Faust. He sang the title role of Le nozze di Figaro at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and also appeared as Golaud at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. Mr. Ketelsen returned to the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence to sing Nick Shadow and made house debut with the Staatsoper Berlin as the title role in Le nozze di Figaro. He sang Leporello at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Canadian Opera Company, Houston Grand Opera, Teatro Real in Madrid, Bayerische Staatsoper, Washington National Opera and Hamburgische Staatsoper. He sang Conte Rodolfo in La sonnambula at Opernhaus Zürich, Escamillo at the San Francisco Opera, and the King of Scotland in Ariodante at Lyric Opera of Chicago and Kaspar in Freischütz in München.
