Kian Jazdi is a musician and project designer and lives in Hamburg. In the constant search for transcultural interfaces, his projects are intended to arouse curiosity and bring people of different artistic and cultural backgrounds, age groups and genders together. The question of representation on and off stage is a central part of his project work. Kian Jazdi studied school music with singing and choir conducting as well as mathematics. He combines his background in classical music with work on analog synthesizers. His passion for Iranian music, which he learned from his father, inspires his own musical style and has a great influence on his choice of projects. Kian Jazdi has worked for institutions such as Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Konzerthaus Berlin, Hamburg Ballett, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Dresdner Philharmonie, Kampnagel Hamburg, Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Vocalensemble Rastatt & Les Favorites, among others. Since the winter semester 2023/24 Kian Jazdi has been teaching Leading & Guiding in the Master Contemporary Arts Practice at the mdw in Vienna. Together with Julian Prégardien and Catherine Pisaroni, he is Artistic Co-Director and Co-Founder of the Hamburg Liedstadt Festival.
