Internationally active trans-genre artist JUSTIN VIVIAN BOND lives in New York and engages in highly diverse art forms ranging from painting, acting and singing to performance art and more. Lauded as a “tornado of art and activism”, Justin Vivian Bond has appeared on and off Broadway. The artist first achieved prominence under the pseudonym “Kiki Durane”, as part of the stage duo Kiki and Herb. Bond has won a string of prizes and distinctions, such as an Obie (2001), a Bessie (2004), a Tony nomination, an Ethyl Eichelberger Award (2007), a Peter Reed Foundation Grant and a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grants to Artists Award. The artist has penned an award-winning memoir, TANGO: My Childhood, Backwards and in High Heels (2011), and appeared in various films, among them John Cameron Mitchell‘s Shortbus (2006), Sunset Stories (2012), Imaginary Heroes (2004), Fanci‘s Persuasion (1995) and After Louie (2016). Bond’s installations, paintings and performances have been shown by New Museum and others.
