Joyce DiDonato

JOYCE DIDONATO was born in Kansas and studied at Wichita State University and the Academy of Vocal Arts, Philadelphia. She is considered a singer at the very top of her game and won a Grammy award in 2012. In recent years, she has sung Sesto in La clemenza di Tito at Lyric Opera Chicago, Elena in La donna del lago, Adalgisa in Norma, the title role in Cendrillon at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Maria Stuarda at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Donna Elvira in Tokyo, Romeo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi in Zurich and at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Charlotte in Werther at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and at Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Rebecca in Il Templario in Salzburg, Semiramide at Bayerische Staatsoper, Ariodante in Paris, and Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito in Baden-Baden. She is also fêted as a concert singer and has done recitals in Santa Fe, Monte Carlo, Toulouse, London, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Milan and Aspen. At Vienna State Opera, she debuted as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia in 2009, and she has also sung a concert as a soloist here.
