Zurich-based Bolivian bass JOSÈ COCA LOZA began 2021/22 as the interpreter of the bass arias in a staged production of the St. Matthew Passion at Theater Basel. Recent highlights include appearances in Robert Wilson's production of Messiah under Marc Minkowski at the Salzburg Mozart Week, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris and at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, his debut at the ROH, Covent Garden as Lesbo (Agrippina), Astolfo in Vivaldi's Orlando furioso at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Haly (L'italiana in Algeri) at the 2018 Salzburg Festival and at the Opéra Royal in Versailles, Alidoro on tour with Cecilia Bartoli at the Lucerne Festival, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona and the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, Clistene in Vivaldi's L'Olimpiade at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Mustafà (L'italiana in Algeri) with the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Truffaldino (Ariadne auf Naxos) at the Festival de Música de Canarias in Tenerife and in Las Palmas, and Mozart's Requiem with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and with The Hague Residentie Orkest.
