Joanna Kędzior

The young soprano Joanna Kędzior starts her 20/21 season as a member of Vienna Staatsoper. In the 19/20 Season, Joanna Kędzior made her Salzburger Festspiele debut in the role of Alcina (»Der Gesang der Zauberinsel«) with Marius Felix Lange as part of the Young Singers Project. On the stage of Polish National Opera, Kędzior can be seen as the 1st Dame and Papagena in »Die Zauberflöte«,  as well as Frasquitta  in »Carmen«. Kędzior professional  stage debut came at the age of 20 when she was invited to  perform in Pieśń o nocy (Song of the Night), a production of the Poznań-based Opera Know-How Festival. The same year 2015/16, Kędzior debuted at the Poznań Opera House with the role of Cléophas in an opera adaptation of »Petit Nicolas et les Copains«. During her first year of studies, she also took part in Janáček’s »Jenůfa« as Karolka, Angelika in Langer’s »Figaro Gets a Divorce«, Sorceress in Purcell’s »Dido and Aeneas«, and First Lady in »Die Zauberflöte« in Poznań Opera House. Since 2016/17 Kędzior has been a regular guest at the Teatr Wielki Polish National Opera in Warsaw where she could be seen in such roles as Frasquitta in Bizet »Carmen«, Yniold in »Pelléas et Mélisande«, Papagena and First Lady in »Die Zauberflöte«. Born in 1994, Joanna Kędzior obtained her MM from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw under the tutelage of Professor Izabela Kłosińska and her BA at the Ignacy Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. During 2016 - 2018 Kędzior was a member of the Opera Academy Teatr Wielki Polish National Opera in Warsaw. Kędzior is a recipient of a range of prizes at the International competitions, including the 9th Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition in Dublin (Second Prize, special award), 5th Reszke Vocal Competition (Third Prize and special award), 23rd Riccardo Zandonai Competition for Young Opera Singers in Trento, Italy (special award), Rudolf Petrák Singing Competition in Žilina, Slovakia (First Prize, special award).
