The American soprano Jennifer Holloway is considered one of the leading singers of her field, with performances in cities such as New York, Paris, London, Vienna, Madrid, Florence, Glyndebourne, and Los Angeles. At the beginning of her career, her repertoire was based on the great mezzo-soprano roles of Mozart and Handel. Over time, she transitioned more into the lyrico-dramatic soprano repertoire, while still maintaining central mezzo roles like the Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier).
Recent highlights include Chrysothemis (Elektra), Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, Leonore (Fidelio), and Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes) in Hamburg, Cassandre (Les Troyens) in Munich and Dresden, Salome in Amsterdam, Dresden, Bilbao, and Atlanta, the title role in César Franck's Hulda in Paris, Elsa (Lohengrin) and Chrysothemis in Leipzig, the Composer at Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Bianca in Florentinische Tragödie at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Grete (Der ferne Klang) and Chrysothemis in Frankfurt, and Sieglinde (Die Walküre) in Hamburg.
She made her debut at the Vienna State Opera in 2022 as Salome.
