The conductor JAMES CONLON gave his debut performance in 1974 with the New York Philharmonic and since then has directed practically all of Europe and America’s leading orchestras. From 1983 to 1991, he was the Musical Director of the Rotterdam Philharmonic, from 1989 to 2002, the General Musical Director of Köln, and from 1995 to 2004, First Visiting Conductor of the Paris Opera. Since 1979, James Conlon has been the Musical Director of the Ravinia Festival and, since 2006, the Musical Director of the Los Angeles Opera, during which time he has conducted about 300 performances. He then went on to appear at La Scala, Milan, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, London, Lyric Opera Chicago, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the opera in Rome. During the season 2016/2017, he conducted, amongst others, Mabeth, The Abduction from Seraglio, Salome, Tosca at Los Angeles Opera. He is a Commandeur de L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and has been a member of the French Legion of Honour since 2002.
