Ivo Stanchev

International engagements have taken Ivo Stanchev to the Glyndebourne Festival, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Prague State Opera, Leipzig Opera, the Düsseldorf Rhine Opera, the Opéra de Toulon, the Israeli Opera Tel Aviv, the National Opera Sofia, the Landestheater Innsbruck, and the Orchestre National de France. His repertoire includes roles such as Philip II and the Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlo, Zaccaria in Nabucco, Boris in Boris Godunov, Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor, the Commendatore in Don Giovanni, Colline in La Bohème, Timur in Turandot, Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Ferrando in Il trovatore.
He received his vocal training at the Pancho Vladigerov Music Academy in Sofia. The Bulgarian bass performed Leone in Attila and the Ghost of the Dead King in Hamlet in Barcelona, as well as Ramfis in Aida at the Teatre Principal de Palma de Mallorca. He was also successful at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, performing as Zabulón in La dogaresa, Cano in Juan José, Pascual in Marina by Emilio Arrieta, and Salieri in Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera Mozart and Salieri.
