Iris Vermillion
IRIS VERMILLION is a highly demanded guest at the important opera houses and concert halls in Europe, the USA and Asia. At the start of her career, she embodied more lyrical roles (Sesto, Dorabella, Cherubino, Komponist und Octavian und zahlreiche Händel-Partien) and now can be heard in roles like Orlofsky, Geschwitz, Fricka and Waltraute, Brangäne and Venus. Further important debuts included the Hexe in Dresden, as Herodias at the Bayerischen Staatsoper and the Teatro alla Scala. Iris Vermillion recieved the Deutschen Theaterpreis Der Faust for the demanding leading role in Schoeck’s Penthesilea at the Semperoper. At the start of 2012, she impressed in the new production of Elektra in Graz as Klytämnestra. Her first Frau ohne Schatten at the Teatro Colón followed and her debut as Küsterin. Numerous recordings exist among others Beethoven’s Missa solemnis, Mahler’s Lied von der Erde, Meistersinger, Alma Mahler’s Lieder, Mahler’s 2nd Symphony, Idomeneo and Salome. At the Wiener Staatsoper, she gave her debut in 2007 as Herodias and also sang this role at the Staatsoper guest performances in Japan and Zaragoza.
