Igor Zapravdin was born in Sevastopol and has been a ballet pianist at the Vienna State Opera since 1992. He studied composition and piano at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory as well as at the Musical and Pedagogical Academy in Moscow and discovered his love for ballet at an early age. He has worked as a pianist with various theatres and ballet companies in Russia, including the Moscow Classical Ballet, the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre Ballet and the Russian State Ballet. He is a regular soloist with the Vienna State Ballet at the Vienna State Opera and the Volksoper Wien, including pieces by Frédéric Chopin in Jerome Robbinsʼ The Concert and John Neumeierʼs Lady of the Camellias. For the musical versions of La Bayadère and Le Corsaire he worked closely with Vladimir Malakhov and Manuel Legris. Furthermore, Igor Zapravdin has performed with many renowned singers and instrumentalists, including the cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, and organised ballet galas in Vienna, Moscow, Stuttgart, Luxembourg and Eisenstadt. He has recorded several music for ballet classes and ballet productions on CD, partly in close collaboration with ballet schools such as the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome.
