Croatian bass Goran Jurić’s plans include his début as Osmin in a new production of »Die Entführung aus dem Serail« at the Wiener Staatsoper in 2020 and as Il Commendatore in a new production »Don Giovanni« in Madrid. In 2021, he will make his role début as King Marke (»Tristan und Isolde«) in Antwerp and will appear in concert performances of »Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk« in Boston and New York. Important appearances in the recent past include Prokofiev's »The Fiery Angel« in Rome, his début at the Berlin State Opera as Mendoza in Prokofiev's »Betrothal in a Monastery« under Daniel Barenboim and directed by Dmitri Tcherniakov, Brander in Berlioz’s »La Damnation de Faust« under Daniele Gatti in Rome and in concert at the Berliner Philharmonie, King Henry (»Lohengrin«) in Madrid and Antwerp, Osmin in Toronto, the title role in Rossini’s »Mosè in Egitto« at the Bregenzer Festspiele and in Naples, Sarastro (»Die Zauberflöte«) in Toronto, Florence and Venice, Don Fernando (»Fidelio«) in Madrid, Sparafucile (»Rigoletto«) in Rome, Colline (»La Bohème«) in Venice and Florence, and Pope in Shostakovitch’s »Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk« in Naples. He has been a member of the Staatsoper Stuttgart ensemble since 2018/19. He can be seen there as Philippe (»Don Carlos«), Pimen (»Boris Godunov«), King Henry, Colline, Oroveso (»Norma«) and Roi (»L'amour des trois oranges«). From 2011 to 2017, he sang as an ensemble member at the Bavarian State Opera in roles such as Zuniga (»Carmen«), Colline, the King (»Aida«), Banquo (»Macbeth), Monk (»Don Carlo«), Don Fernando, Il Commendatore, Biterolf (»Tannhäuser«), Timur (»Turandot«), Ferrando (»Il trovatore«), Walter Furst (»Guillaume Tell«), Raimondo (»Lucia di Lammermoor«) and Pope (»Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk«). He works with conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Marco Armiliato, Bertrand de Billy, Daniele Calligari, Paolo Carignani, Daniele Gatti, Hartmut Haenchen, Vladimir Juriwski, Oksana Lyniv, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Kent Nagano, Daniele Rustioni, Robin Ticciati, Juraj Valčuha, Massimo Zanetti and David Zinman. On the concert stage, he has given guest performances of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in Naples, Kodály's »Budvári Te Deum« in Munich and Stravinsky's »Les Noces« in Zurich. He has participated in performances of Honegger's »Jeanne d'Arc au Bûcher«, Berislav Šipuš‘»Osorski plač, Schubert’s Mass in E-flat major, Handel’s Te Deum and »Messiah«, Charpentier’s Te Deum, Mozart's Requiem, Haydn's »Nelson Mass«, Buxtehude’s »Membra Jesu Nostri« and in concerts with the NDR Podium der Jungen in Hamburg and Frankfurt. In 2016, he first performed the Peasant in Schoenberg's »Gurrelieder« under Zubin Mehta in Munich. Goran Jurić studied at the Academy of Music, University of Zagreb; he attended several master classes and in summer 2011 participated in the Young Singers Program of the Salzburg Festival. He has won numerous prizes and awards at international singing competitions.
