Elsa Dreisig
The French-Danish singer Elsa Dreisig has rapidly established herself as one of the most captivating lyric sopranos of today. Since joining the Berlin State Opera Studio in 2015 and becoming a member of the ensemble, she has celebrated successes at leading opera houses across Europe. As an exclusive artist with the Erato label, she released her third album, Mozart x 3, in 2022, featuring arias from the three Da Ponte operas and three Mozart opera series.
Mozart has always held a central place in her career: she has performed as Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) and Zerlina (Don Giovanni) at the Paris Opéra, sang Fiordiligi in a new production of Così fan tutte at the Salzburg Festival in 2020, and returned to the Berlin State Opera in 2022 for a Da Ponte trilogy, making her debut as Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) after having portrayed the Countess (Le nozze di Figaro) the previous year. In her interpretations, Dreisig continually uncovers new facets of her roles, captivating audiences with her psychological depth. For example, in her debut as the title role in Donizetti's Anna Bolena at the Grand Théâtre de Genève in 2021, she focused particularly on the emotional state of the queen, striving to build a personal connection with the character.
In 2022, she made her debut as Salome at the Aix-en-Provence Festival and dazzled as Micaëla (Carmen) in Brussels. In 2023, she stepped in at short notice to perform Massenet's Manon at the Vienna State Opera, marking her house debut, followed by her debut at La Scala in Milan as the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro. In 2024, she made her role debut as Mimì (La bohème) and performed in Geneva in all three of Donizetti's Queen operas: Anna Bolena, Elisabetta (Maria Stuarda), and Elisabetta (Roberto Devereux).
In the summer of 2024, she sang the Countess in Capriccio at the Salzburg Festival under the baton of Christian Thielemann. Future engagements include the title role in Handel's Alcina at the Teatro Real in Madrid, in Paris, and at the Musiktheater an der Wien, Fiordiligi at La Scala in Milan, Manon at the Hamburg State Opera, and Sifare (Mitridate, re di Ponto) in Madrid.
