The mezzo-soprano began her career at Deutsche Oper Berlin, soon going on to appear as a guest at the Bayreuth Festival, Teatro Real Madrid, New National Theatre Tokyo, in Geneva, at Dresden’s Semperoper, in Lyon, Mannheim and Düsseldorf, the Hamburgische Staatsoper and the Opéra Bastille in Paris. As Judith (Duke Bluebeard’s Castle) she had a great success at the première at Milan’s La Scala, and she appeared in this role at the Barbican Hall in London, the Mariinsky Theatre and Saito Kinen Festival. Other successes included Brangäne, Fricka, Venus, Kundry, Charlotte, Didon (Les Troyens), and Santuzza. Her latest projects include Venus and Ortrud (Bayreuth Festival), Eboli (Hamburgische Staatsoper, Teatro Colón), Marie in Wozzeck (Deutsche Oper Berlin), and Carmen (National Theatre in Prague). She débuted at the Teatro Real Madrid as Waltraute (Götterdämmerung) and Brangäne (Tristan und Isolde). Appearances at the New National Theatre Tokyo include Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), and Brangäne. She was awarded the Golden Mask for her interpretation of Judith at the Mariinsky Theatre. She sang Venus in Tannhäuser at the Semperoper and Ortrud at the Bayreuth Festival, and appeared as Kundry (Parsifal) in Lyon, Mannheim und Düsseldorf. Major successes include La Principessa di Bouillon, Foreign Princess, Charlotte and Eboli, Ortrud and Kundry at the Wiener Staatsoper.
