Elena Mikhailenko was born in Magnitogorsk (Russia) in 1978 and studied in her hometown as well as at the Moscow Conservatory and the Gnesin Academy of Music. She is a laureate of numerous competitions, such as the Glinka International Singing Competition. Recently she sang the title role in Turandot at the Helikon Opera in Moscow, in Karlsruhe and in Prague, as well as the title role in La gioconda in Malmö and Innsbruck. She also sang Abigaille (Nabucco) in Estonia, Lisa (Pique Dame) at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, at the Roman Opera and at the Saaremaa Opera Festival in Estonia, Tosca at the Teatro García Barbón in Spain, Iolanta at the Theater an der Wien, Amelia (Un ballo in maschera) in Tallinn and Bangkok. She sang Katerina (Lady Macbeth of Mzensk) at the New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago in Chile, in São Paulo, at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, and Aida at the Opéra de Massy. Other roles include Giulietta (Les Contes d'Hoffmann), Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito) and Isabella (Das Liebesverbot). Her current or future engagements include Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Turandot, Abigaille, Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) at the Helicon Opera.
