Dohoon Lee
South Korean bass Dohoon Lee was born in 1995. He studied at Seoul National University with Kwangchul Youn and Kyuhee Cho. During his studies, Lee sang the Second Armored Man in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. In 2022, he completed a master's degree in opera with Prof. Albert Pesendorfer at the Berlin University of the Arts. In 2023, he sang Le Fauteuil and Un chêne in the opera L’Enfant et les Sortilèges, and in 2024, he sang the role of Collatinus in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia.
In 2024, he was also selected as a member of the International Meistersinger Academy (IMA) 2024 and received a scholarship from the IMA, which included an opera gala concert with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, followed by concerts in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz.
He has performed in opera productions on the stage under renowned conductors such as Axel Kober, Carlo Rizzi, Pier Giorgio Morandi, Marc Leroy-Calatayud, and Alain Altinoglu.
Dohoon Lee is a member of the Studio of the Vienna State Opera since the 2024/25 season and was a scholarship holder of WCN (World Culture Networks) Foundation during his first year at the studio.
Since autumn 2024, he has appeared on stage at the Vienna State Opera in Andrea Chénier as Fouquier Tinville, in Macbeth as the Doctor, in Rigoletto as the Count of Ceprano and in Roméo et Juliette as Grégorio and in the children's opera Das verfluchte Geisterschiff as Daland.
