Boris Pinkhasovich

The Russian-Austrian baritone Boris Pinkhasovich received his musical training in conducting and voice at the Conservatory of his hometown, St. Petersburg. Immediately after graduating, he was engaged as a soloist at the renowned Mikhailovsky Theatre and soon after celebrated his international breakthrough.

Since then, Boris Pinkhasovich has been a sought-after guest at leading opera houses worldwide. At the Bavarian State Opera, he has captivated audiences in roles such as Onegin, Ford, Sharpless, Rodrigo, Lescaut, Yeletsky, and Kovalyov in Shostakovich’s acclaimed production of »The Nose«. He made his debut at the Vienna State Opera in 2018 as Figaro in »Il Barbiere di Siviglia« and has since appeared regularly in roles such as Onegin, Sharpless, Ford, Rodrigo, Yeletsky, Marcello, and Lescaut. Further engagements have taken him to the Metropolitan Opera in New York (Marcello), Teatro alla Scala in Milan (Enrico, Marcello), the Royal Opera House Covent Garden (Shchelkalov, Marcello, Belcore), the Zurich Opera House (Enrico), as well as the Opéra de Paris, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Salzburg Festival, the Baden-Baden Easter Festival, and the Berlin Philharmonic.

In September 2023, Boris Pinkhasovich was awarded the Austrian Music Theater Prize for his interpretation of Yeletsky in Pique Dame at the Vienna State Opera.

In the 2024/2025 season, he will be seen at the Vienna State Opera as Robert in a new production of Tchaikovsky’s »Iolanta« and as Yeletsky in »Pique Dame«. Further highlights of the season include his role debut as Valentin in Gounod’s »Faust« at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and his return to the Bavarian State Opera as Yeletsky in »Pique Dame«.
