Alma Neuhaus
American mezzo-soprano Alma Neuhaus was awarded the Liederkranz Foundation Prize at the 2021 Gerda Lissner Song Competition and was a finalist in the 2022 New Voices Competition. She performed with Les Arts Florissants as Filide in Handel's Aminta e Filide and was a member of the 2022 Salzburg Festival Young Singer's Project, where she performed in Suor Angelica and Parsifal. In 2022/23 and 2023/24 she is a member of the Young Artist Program of the Vienna State Opera.
Last season she made her role debut as Arcane in Handel's Teseo at Juilliard Opera and performed Mussorgsky's The Nursery. She gave concerts at Alice Tully Hall and Damrosch Park as part of the Lincoln Center Restart Stages. In 2020 and 2021, she was a Vocal Fellow of the Music Academy of the West and appeared in a video production of Hansel and Gretel as the Sandman and in the film Mirrorflores: Cinematic Opera. She has also performed concerts at the Lobero Theatre, Granada Theatre and performed at the Bach Roots Festival. In the 2019/20 season, she sang Jenny Reefer/Anna Hope at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the MetLiveArts production of The Mother of Us All. She then made her David Geffen Hall debut with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra (Debussy's Nocturnes) and completed numerous recitals.
Alma Neuhaus is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota and holds a Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School, where she studied with Cynthia Hoffmann and is a recipient of the Novick Career Advancement Grant. She holds a Bachelor of Music from St. Olaf College, where she studied with Anna Mooy.
