DOROTHEA RÖSCHMANN was born in Flensburg, and gave her succesful debut in 1995 at the Salzburg Festival as Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro). In Salzburg, she has since also sung Donna Elvira, Contessa d’Almaviva, Ilia, Servilia, Nannetta, Pamina and Vitellia. She sang the roles of Susanna, Pamina, Elvira and Ilia at the New York Met, and at the ROH Covent garden she sang roles among others, like Pamina, Fiordiligi, Contessa d’Almaviva, and at the Milan Scala as the Contessa and Donna Elvira. The latter role she also sang in Moscow. At the Bayerischen Staatsoper, she has embodied Zerlina, Susanna, Ännchen, Marzelline, Anne Trulove and Rodelinda. Furthermore, she is closely connected to the Staatsoper Berlin, where she sang roles like Ännchen, Nannetta, Eva, Elsa, Pamina, Fiordiligi, Susanna, Zerlina, Micäela, Donna Elvira, Marschallin and the Contessa. At the Théatre La Monnaie in Brussels, she interpreted Norina, and at the Paris Opéra Bastille the Contessa and Pamina. Recent and future projects include among others Agathe, Donna Elvira and Contessa in Berlin, the Contessa in Los Angeles, Florinda (Fierrabras) at the Salzburg Festival and Agathe in Berlin, Desdemona in Salzburg, London and Dresden. Dorothea Röschmann is also a sought after Lied interpreter. She gave her debut at the Wiener Staatsoper in 2003 as Susanna and has since also sung the Contessa, Marschallin und Jenufa.
