The german Mezzo Soprano JANINA BAECHLE is a regular guest on the international opera and concert podium. After initial fixed engagements at the Staatstheater in Braunschweig and Hannover she became a member of the Ensemble of the Wiener Staatsoper, where she sang among others, roles like Santuzza, Ulrica, Ortrud, Mrs. Quickly. SInce then she returns regularly as a guest to this house and sings roles such as Ježibaba, Brangäne, Herodias, Mutter (Hänsel und Gretel) as well as Fricka, Erda and Waltraute. She celebrated great success in 2015 as Erda (Das Rheingold) under Sir Simon Rattle at the Bayerischen Rundfunk in Munich and as Adelaide at the Semperoper Dresden under Christian Thielemann. Recent engagements include her debut at the Milan Scala as Annina (Der Rosenkavalier) under Zubin Mehta, Erda (Das Rheingold) under Christian Thielemann and her role debut as Hexe (Königskinder) at the Semperoper Dresden. Guest performances in recent times have led her among others to the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, the Opéra de Lyon, the Opéra National de Paris, the Teatre del Liceu, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Staatsoper Hamburg, the San Francisco Opera, to Toulouse and the Edinburgh Festival.
