Jugendkompanie
The Jugendkompanie of the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera offers 12 dancers aged between 17 and 21 the opportunity to prepare for professional life each season.
The aim of the Ballet Academy's management is to offer artistic and technical development opportunities for young dancers in a safe environment and thus support a successful transition into a professional ballet company.
In addition to classical, contemporary and repertoire training, as well as individual coaching, the focus of the training contract is on preparing for future auditions and gaining stage experience by participating in productions of the Vienna State Ballet, the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Volksoper. The dancers also take part in the Jugendkompanie's own productions and the Ballet Academy's annual matinee at the Vienna State Opera.
This further training is limited to two years.
The graduating class of the Ballet Academy is invited to audition for the Jugendkompanie, as are existing members of the Jugendkompanie if they wish to extend their contract for a further year. Since 2022, external dancers have also been able to apply for a place.
Information on auditions for the Jugendkompanie 2025/26 will be made available in January 2025.
