Roberto Tagliavini
The Italian bass Roberto Tagliavini has established himself as one of the leading basses, having made appearances in renowned opera houses such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Vienna State Opera, and the Paris Opera. Born in Parma, he studied with the baritone Romano Franceschetto and made his professional debut at the Teatro Regio di Parma. During the 2023/24 season, Roberto appeared in La sonnambula, Carmen, and La cenerentola at the Vienna State Opera, in Maometto II at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, and Il barbiere di Siviglia, Macbeth, and Norma at the Bavarian State Opera. In his hometown of Parma, he performed in Il trovatore and Il barbiere di Siviglia before returning to the stage of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma for performances of La sonnambula. Highlights of 2024/25 season are I puritani in Paris, Il trovatore and Don Carlo in Vienna, La cenerentola at Bayerische Staatsoper, I vespri siciliani in Berlin. With a repertoire spanding from Rossini to Mozart, and from belcanto to Verdi, some of Roberto’s signature roles include Selim (Il turco in Italia), Mustafà (L’italiana in Algeri), Alidoro (La cenerentola), Fernando (La gazza ladra), Lord Sidney (Il viaggio a Reims), Maometto (Maometto II), Elmiro (Otello), Rodolfo (La sonnambula), Oroveso (Norma), Giorgio (I puritani), Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Banco (Macbeth), Attila (Attila), Zaccaria (Nabucco), Pagano (I Lombardi alla prima crociata), Escamillo (Carmen), Frère Laurent (Roméo et Juliette), The Four Villains (Les contes d’Hoffmann) among the others.
