Kristina Mkhitaryan
A graduate of the Galina Vishnevskaya Theater Studio in Moscow, Kristina Mkhitaryan participated in the Young Artist Program of the Bolshoi Theater, where she continues to work as a studio artist. She won first prize at the Queen Sonja International Competition in Oslo (2013), third prize at the New Voices Competition (2013), the Viotti Competition in Vercelli (2014), and 2nd prize at the Operalia Competition (2017). Her recent successes include her debut at the New York Met as Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), her debut at London's Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Micaëla (Carmen) and Violetta, Gilda (Rigoletto) at Opera Australia and Hamburg State Opera, the title role in Alcina at Opéra National de Lorraine and Armida (Rinaldo) at the Glyndebourne Festival. Other recent engagements include Violetta at the Liceu in Barcelona, her return as Leila (Les Pêcheurs de perles) to the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Musetta (La bohème) to the Metropolitan Opera, Violetta to London's Royal Opera House, Liù (Turandot) to Amsterdam, and her debut as Juliette (Roméo et Juliette) at San Diego Opera. In October 2022 she will make her debut at the Vienna State Opera as Violetta (La traviata) and will return here in February/March 2023 as Adina (L'elisir d'amore).
