Bryn Terfel
BRYN TERFEL was born in Pant Glas in Wales and studied at the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has enjoyed success as Leporello, Jochanaan, with the Four Villains (Les Contes d'Hoffmann), as Wolfram, Scarpia, Nick Shadow, Méphistophélès (La Damnation de Faust) Falstaff, Figaro, Dutchman and Boris Godunov, among others. He has made guest appearances at all the world's major opera houses, including Paris, Vienna, Milan, Chicago, San Francisco, Zurich, Amsterdam, the Salzburg Festival, as well as the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the ROH Covent Garden. He is also a lied and concert singer in demand worldwide. Most recently he has been heard as Boris Godunov (Deutsche Oper Berlin, ROH Covent Garden), Holländer (Zurich, Tokyo, Munich, Bilbao), Sweeney Todd (Zurich), Falstaff (Opéra Bastille, ROH Covent Garden, Grange Park Opera), Scarpia (ROH Covent Garden), Don Pizarro (Graz), as well as in concert, such as at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Current projects take him to Munich and Zurich (Falstaff), Paris (Duke Bluebeard) and Madrid (Balstrode). At the Vienna State Opera he sang Holländer, Leporello, Don Giovanni, Figaro, Falstaff, Dulcamara, Balstrode, Jochanaan, Scarpia, Four Villains, among others.
