Yusif Eyvazov
Born in Azerbaijan, tenor Yusif Eyvazov completed his studies in Italy. His career has since taken him to virtually every major opera house – for example, New York’s Metropolitan Opera, the Berlin and Munich State Operas, La Scala, the Opéra national de Paris, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre and the Mariinski Theatre in Saint Petersburg. His unique vocal timbre and outstanding stage presence make it possible for him to combine an active opera career with frequent concert appearances. Yusif Eyvazov has made numerous recordings with Deutsche Grammophon, and in 2017 he received Azerbaijan’s highest award, »People’s Artist of Azerbaijan«. Performances in recent seasons include the title role in »Andrea Chénier« at Milan’s La Scala, Dick Johnson (»La fanciulla del West«) and Calaf (»Turandot«) at the Metropolitan Opera, Des Grieux (»Manon Lescaut«), Herman (»Pique Dame«) and Don Carlo at the Bolshoi Theatre, Macduff (»Macbeth«), Don Alvaro (»La forza del destino«) and Dick Johnson at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, and Macduff at the Mariinski Theatre, Cavaradossi (»Tosca«) at the Berlin State Opera, Manrico (»Il trovatore«) at the Opéra national de Paris, Radames (»Aida«) and Manrico at the Arena di Verona, Maurizio (»Adriana Lecouvreur«) at the Salzburg Festival, Canio (»Pagliacci«) at Los Angeles Opera, Faust (»Mefistofele«) at Prague Opera and Otello in Ravenna. Yusif Eyvazov is also much in demand worldwide as a concert artist. To date he has sung Andrea Chénier, Manrico and Calaf at the Wiener Staatsoper and performed at the opening of the 2019 Vienna Opera Ball.
