Claudine Schoch

Claudine Schoch received her training at the Ballet School of the Zurich Opera House and was supported by a scholarship from Migros-Kulturprozent at the Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung Munich under Konstanze Vernon. Among the prizes with which she was awarded are the 1st Prize of the Solothurn International Ballet Competition and the Prize of the Best Swiss Woman at the Prix de Lausanne 2000. From 2001 to 2008 Claudine Schoch danced in the Bavarian State Ballet under the direction of Ivan Liška, first in the Corps de ballet, from 2007 as a demi-soloist. This was followed by engagements at the Semperoper Ballett Dresden under Aaron S. Watkin, from 2011 at the Ballett am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg under Martin Schläpfer and from 2018 at the Ballett Basel under Richard Wherlock. Claudine Schoch’s wide artistic range is reflected in her repertoire: she not only danced numerous leading roles in works by Frederick Ashton (»Symphonic Variations«), George Balanchine (»Agon«, »Episodes«, »Serenade«, »Stravinsky Violin Concerto«), Antony Tudor (»Jardin aux lilas«), Kenneth MacMillan and Peter Wright, but also in works by Lucinda Childs, David Dawson, Mats Ek, William Forsythe, Johan Inger, Jiří Kylián, Sol León & Paul Lightfoot, John Neumeier, Aaron S. Watkin and Richard Wherlock. A close collaboration connects her with Martin Schläpfer, who not only created numerous solo roles for her in his ballets »Symphonie g-Moll«, »7«, »DEEP FIELD«, »Petite Messe solennelle«, »Schwanensee« as well as in the opera production »Castor et Pollux«, but also the solo »De Claudine z’lieb«. Since the 2020/21 season Claudine Schoch is a first soloist with the Vienna State Ballet, where she appeared, among others, as Carabosse in the world premiere of Martin Schläpfer's & Marius Petipa's »The Sleeping Beauty«, Queen of the Dryads in Rudolf Nureyevʼs »Don Quixote«, in George Balanchine's »Jewels« and »Liebeslieder Walzer«, Alexei Ratmansky's »Pictures at an Exhibition«, Andrey Kaydanovskiy's »lux umbra«, Hans van Manen's video ballet »Live«, Heinz Spoerli's »Goldberg-Variationen« and works by Martin Schläpfer such as »4«, »Ein Deutsches Requiem«, »In Sonne verwandelt«, »Die Jahreszeiten« and »Lontano«. Furthermore, she performed in the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert 2022 in Martin Schläpfer's choreography.
