Marian Furnica

Marian Furnica was born in Chişinau (Moldova) and received his education at the local Ballet Academy (Colegiul Național de Coregrafie) as well as at the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera. In 2012 he joined the Vienna State Ballet. His most important roles comprise Max in »Max und Moritz« by Ferenc Barbay and Michael Kropf, Aladin in Vesna Orlić’s »Tausendundeine Nacht«, farmer in Manuel Legris’ »Sylvia«, Hungarian Dancer (soloist) in Rudolf Nureyev’s »Swan Lake«, Saracens Duo in Nureyev’s »Raymonda«, Chinese and Russian Dance in Nureyev’s »The Nutcracker«, the cock in Frederick Ashton’s »La Fille mal gardée«, the male cat in Martin Schläpfer’s »The Sleeping Beauty« as well as parts in Hans van Manen's »Four Schumann Pieces«, Paul Taylor's »Promethean Fire« and works by George Balanchine, Edward Clug, John Cranko, William Forsythe, Kenneth MacMillan, John Neumeier, Jerome Robbins and Elena Tchernichova. Furthermore, he danced in Martin Schläpfer's world premieres of »4«, »Symphonie Nr. 15«, »In Sonne verwandelt«, »Marsch, Walzer, Polka« and »The Seasons« as well as in »Ein Deutsches Requiem« and »Marsch, Walzer, Polka«.
