Céline Janou Weder
The Swiss Céline Janou Weder received her education at the Swiss Academy of Dance in Zurich and the Heinz-Bosl-Stiftung / Ballett-Academy Munich. Furthermore, she gained a certificate of advanced study in Health and Performance in 2020 at the University in Bern and is currently doing a Master Study in Dance Science. Her first contract has been in 2003 at the Junior Ballet in Zurich under the direction of Heinz Spoerli, in 2005 she changed to the Theater Basel under the direction of Richard Wherlock. Since 2008 she is a member of the Vienna State Ballet. Her most important roles comprise Hertha Strugg and Angel in Natalia Horecna’s »Contra Clockwise Witness«, Madame D’Ora in Antony McDonald’s and Ashley Page’s »Ein Reigen«, arctic fox in Michael Corder’s »The Snow Queen«, Anitra in Edward Clug’s »Peer Gynt«, a resolute lady in Jerome Robbins’ »The Concert«, Carnival's dance in John Cranko's »Romeo and Juliet«, Little Red Riding Hood Peter Wright’s »The Sleeping Beauty«, Giselle's friends in Elena Tchernischova‘s »Giselle«, Swanildaʼs friend in Pierre Lacotteʼs »Coppélia« as well as parts in Sol León’s & Paul Lightfoot’s »Skew-Whiff«, Jiří Kylián’s »Sechs Tänze«, Twyla Tharp's »Variationen über ein Thema von Haydn«, Alexander Ekman's »Cacti«, Thierry Malandain’s »Mozart à 2« and András Lukács' »Movements to Stravinsky«. Moreover, she danced in works by Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine, Jiří Bubeníček, Pierre Lacotte, Manuel Legris, Kenneth MacMillan, Vladimir Malakhov, John Neumeier, Rudolf Nurejew, Paul Taylor, Stephan Thoss as well as in Martin Schläpfer's »4«, »Symphonie Nr. 15«, »Ein Deutsches Requiem«, »Marsch, Walzer, Polka«, »The Seasons « and »The Sleeping Beauty«.
