Born in Hammerum (Denmark), MORTEN FRANK LARSEN studied in Århus and perfected himself under Josef Greindl and Gino Bechi. In 1994, the singer gave his debut as Tarquinius in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia in Aarhus. His international debut came the following year with the leading role in Don Giovanni at the Goethe-Theater in Bad Lauchstädt. From 1997 to 2000, Larsen was engaged with the Staatstheater Braunschweig, and then became a permanent ensemble member of the Wiener Volksoper. At the Wiener Staatsoper, Morten Frank Larsen gave his debut in 2003 as Sprecher in der Zauberflöte and has since also worked as Mercutio, Dr. Falke, Don Fernando and Mandryka. In 2005, he stood with great success as Jochanaan on the stage of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. Further guest performances have led Larsen among others to Sevil, Bologna, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the New York Met. In the 2005/2006 season, Morten Frank Larsen was successful both in Berlin and Austria for the world premieres of Nicholas Maw’s Sophie’s Choice (Co-production between the Wiener Volksoper and the Deutschen Oper Berlin and Washington National Opera). Morten Frank Larsen is also a concert and Lied singer.
