Evgeny Solodovnikov
Evgeny Solodovnikov begins his 2020/2021 season at the Wiener Staatsoper as a member of the soloist ensemble. Solodovnikov’s recent engagements include Kitchiga in »The Enchantress « and Conte di Ceprano in »Rigoletto« at the Opera de Lyon. With the St Petersburg Chamber Opera, the young bass has performed the roles of Osmin in »Die Entführung aus dem Serail«, Don Basilio in »Il barbiere di Siviglia« , Prince Gremin in »Eugene Onegin«, Sparafucile in »Rigoletto «, A Sacristan »Tosca«, Lo zio Bonzo in »Madama Butterfly«, Fyodor Petrovich in Shchedrin’s »Not Love Alone «, Dottore Grenvil in »La traviata«, Alcindoro in »La Bohème«. The bass’ career began at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St Petersburg where he took on the following roles: Skula in »Prince Igor«, Zaretsky in »Eugene Onegin«, Lieutenant Ratcliffe in »Billy Budd«, Malyuta Skuratov in »The Tsar’s«, Police Officer in »Boris the Tsar« (based on the first edition of Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov , cond. Vl. Jurowski). Solodovnikov made his debut at the Staatsoper Berlin with the role Innkeeper/Sergeant in »Manon Lescaut« and was seen as Samuel in »Un ballo in maschera« in the Savonlinna Opera Festival. Solodovnikov is a graduate of the Vlaamse Opera (Flemish Opera) young singers ensemble, where he performed Speaker and First Priest in »Die Zauberflöte«, Pietro in »Simon Boccanegra«, Lesbo in »Agrippina«, and Duda in »Sadko«. Solodovnikov received his MM from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory and is a prize-winner of the III International Boris Shtokolov Vocal Competition in St Petersburg and Le Grand Prix de L’Opera in 2014 in Bucharest.
